Nationwide were appointed to carry out a one-off deep property clean of a 2 bedroom second floor flat in Gateshead, Tyneside following an unattended death in the property. The body had sadly lay there for 6 days which meant a very bad smell throughout and lots of deadly bacteria.

The Gateshead flat was also partially cleared of all junk, soiled materials and other misc waste before the one-off deep clean.

We sent 4 of our highly trained and experienced men to first clear the property and then clean it. It took less than an hour to clear the flat of all the unwanted junk before the men set about carrying out a very thorough one-off deep clean.

The men first carried out a total de-dust of the property which consisted of removing dust and cobwebs from the ceilings, walls, lamp shades and other hard to reach areas where dust typically resides.

They then tackled all the wood-work, sanitising and cleaning all doors, window frames and sills, skirting and all kitchen cupboards inside and out. They also cleaned all hard flooring which was in the hall-way and kitchen.

After that they hoovered all the carpets and then sprayed a special odour eliminator type spray over the carpets to kill bacteria and eliminate bad smells as the carpets were soiled. The living room carpet had hundreds of cigarette but ends strewn across them for example.

The men used a steam cleaner in the kitchen and bathroom to tackle the grime and bacteria. The toilet had human feces around it and that was fully cleaned where as in the kitchen all appliances were also cleaned such as the cooker, the washer and the fridge freezer.

All internal windows were cleaned, light switches, sockets and door handles and even the smoke alarm, blinds, picture frames and mirrors.

In the master bedroom, where the person had sadly passed away, the men removed the soiled mattress, bedding and clothing and the clean consisted of sanitising everywhere. Because the bed frame was to be kept as it was the property of the landlord, the mes cleaned the slats and frame fully.

In total it took the 4 men 3 hours to fully deep-clean the 2 bedroom apartment in Gateshead. They successfully eliminated the smell of death which is a unique smell that is very tough to eliminate. We use natural remedies and strong bio-hazard chemicals as well as good old fashioned fresh air and on this particular clearance and deep clean it did the trick.
