Nationwide were appointed to carry out the clearance of a single double bedroom in an otherwise 4 bedroom terraced town house type property located in York, North Yorkshire. The substantial property didn’t require a total clearance, just the one room in which a body had sadly lay dead unattended for 4 weeks.

We sent 3 of our highly trained and experienced unattended death property clearance men to carry out the task given to us by the brother of the deceased who sadly died of a heart attack at the age of 56.

The deceased was a very private man who kept himself to himself and often traveled abroad and had no close living family. The relative of the deceased who employed us hadn’t seen his brother in over 20 years due to a family fall-out and so the body sadly lay unattended dead for 4 weeks.

It was the gardener who alerted authorities to the body as he was appointed every 6 weeks to attend to gardening duties. The local police force traced the next of kin and recommended our services as we specialise in these kind of clearances.

The double bedroom where the deceased had lay unattended dead contained a large metal framed bed with two double mattress and a wooden base, a set of drawers, an arm-chair and other misc items. The room also contained a large carpet like rug and items of clothing which were used to cover the soiled mattresses.

The sheer extent of decomposition was evident in that bodily fluids had not only seeped through 2 thick mattresses, and the wooden base underneath the mattresses, but also the rug and floor boarding.

The men removed all of the items of furniture from the bedroom and the rug which amounted to not even half a van load. It took the 3 men 1 hour to clear the bedroom with 20% of the contents recycled, namely the wooden set of drawers and the metal bed frame.
