Nationwide were appointed to carry out the total property clearance of a 2 bedroom bungalow in Oxford, Oxfordshire. We also had to carry out a one-off deep clean of the bungalow. Sadly a body had lay dead unattended for 4 days too, which meant this particular clearance was an undiscovered death clearance.

We sent 3 of our expertly trained, highly experienced and very compassionate house clearance staff to carry out the clearance and clean.

The men arrived at the home 10.00am having collected the keys from a local estate agent. On entering the property the men were quickly accustomed to the awful smell of death. The body had lay in the property for 4 days during high weather temperatures, thankfully the armchair in which the deceased passed away on had been removed prior to the men’s arrival.

The men were also tasked with cleaning the property and had to remove a double bed, a single bed, misc items such as clothing, bric-a-brac, old rugs and carpets and several white goods along with drawers, coffee tables and other items of house-hold furniture. The men also had to clear several outhouse buildings of junk.

The clean compromised of a very thorough one-off deep clean. All internal windows were cleaned, all hard floors mopped, the bathroom and kitchen area steam-cleaned and all wood work cleaned too. In total it took the 3 uniformed and licenced men 7 full hours to clear and clean the property, using 2 full van loads.

55% of the contents were recycled, namely the fabrics, metal, plastics, wood, several white goods and many items of food which were still in date. Those items were donated to a local food bank.
