We were appointed to carry out the clearance of a property in Glasgow, Scotland where a body had sadly been left unattended for more than 6 weeks.

The 2 bedroom ground floor flat was also quite cluttered and very grimy as is expected in such circumstances. We were tasked with carrying out a complete clearance including the removal of all furniture and effected items as well as all carpets and white goods as this was a council property.

The men had to go into the property fully protected with their PPE and started work clearing the flat room by room, leaving the bedroom where the body had been left unattended until last out of respect for the deceased. The men removed typical house-hold furniture such as a sofa, an armchair, a table, white goods, a wardrobe, a double bed and lots of misc clutter, bric-a-brac and junk.

We also had to remove all of the dead flies and other critters from the flat. In total it took 3 of our men 4 hours to clear the flat and to dispose of the items with 30% of the contents recycled, namely the white goods, scrap material and wood. The rest, due to contamination and bacteria had to be destroyed at a local commercial waste transfer station.
