We were appointed to decluter and clear a large semi-detached property in Bristol, South West England. The property had 3 bedrooms, a living room, a dining room, a conservatory, a kitchen, a hallway and two bathrooms. All rooms contained decaying food waste, animal feces and even human feces too. There was also a dead animal carcass in the property that had to be removed. This was an extremely cluttered and verminous house clearance.

We worked closely with the customer to salvage as many items from the property as possible in the shape of furniture, bric-a-brac, clothing and personal artifacts that the customer wanted to retain. We also found and handed over a small quantity of money, jewelry photographs and other very personal possessions which had been lost in and among the clutter.

We managed to salvage a few bags of clothing, a sofa, a dining table, some drawers, numerous boxes of personal paperwork and documents, a coffee table, and other misc items. Items that would need a thorough clean to remove bacteria and contamination.

The customer had been suffering with depression and illness and had been living in squalor for a few years before family members intervened. Our task was clear, to salvage as much as possible and to then remove and dispose of all the clutter and verminous waste, leaving the property cleared so that it could be put up for sale and so that the customer could finally get some closure and move on with their life.

This was a very emotional job for us as we got to become close to the customer and their family during the process which took 2 days in total to clear using 6 men each time. It took 6 full van loads and one 16-yard skip to clear the property. 30% was recycled which was the customer’s belongings which we salvaged.
